a night at the museum

I spent Friday evening at the Oakland Museum surrounded by art, food, drinks, music and great company.
I was planning on wearing a dress, but decided to throw this together last minute, all so I could wear a ring I got from F21 hours earlier.

It's great to start with an inspirational piece and build your look around it :)

Speaking of inspiration, here are some pictures from the museum.

And here I am sporting the next big thing...multi colored glasses! Doesn't someone already make something like this? Chanel?

Even our quesadillas had a touch of art, and a message.

fancy feet

I walked into Macy's last week, and walked out with a little more pep in my step thanks to Mr. Carlos Santana.
It takes me an eternity to wear new stuff, but I'm so excited about these pleated pumps that I had to show them off before I wear them out.

Aren't they fancy? And you haven't even heard the best part...they were on sale for $25. That is 75% off the original price. I die!
Also thanks to everyone who entered my giveaway. By now, Sherine over at Confessions of A City Girl should be the proud new owner of some brass bangles by eShakti .

around the world girl

It may not look like it but this outfit is multicultural, so to speak.

My leopard bodysuit is from H&M, which is based in Sweden, but it was made in Turkey, and purchased in San Francisco.
This bracelet, worn with my Michael Kors watch, is a gift from my boyfriend which he got for me in South Africa.

My Louboutins were made in France, but shipped from Germany to my home in Atlanta.

And last but not least, this purple bracelet (which you can barely see in the other pictures) was made in Italy and purchased by a friend in Romania.

The rest of what I'm wearing was purchased in various US cities and probably made in China. It's all pretty cool when you think about it :)

P.S- I'm in the Street Style section of the March issue of Essence Magazine!!!!!

ladies in red

Last weekend I went to a lovely luncheon put on by a group called Ladies in Red. And yes, you guessed it, everyone was in red. If I go back next year, I'll buy a cute red dress, but this year I opted for a red blazer. It did the trick for the day...

Happy Valentine's Day to all my lovely readers. You guys make my heart smile :) Tomorrow, I will be contacting the winner of the giveaway. Good luck!

P.S. I scored this Gap skirt for $6!
P.P.S I was playing with the camera settings during this "shoot". Each picture really has a different look/feel. Can't wait to take a photograhy class...

chic chef: creamy shrimp & tomato chowder

It's been a while since I've shown off my culinary skills, so I figured it was time for my third installment of chic chef :)
I love soup and this was the first time I've ever prepared my own from scratch and it was delish! I'll definitely be making this again, perhaps with chicken or sausage next time.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • *2 stalks celery, chopped (1 cup)
  • *1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • *1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • *2 14.5 oz. cans diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, undrained
  • *8 oz. medium peeled cooked shrimp
  • *1/2 cup whipping cream
  • *1/2 cup water
  • *ground black pepper

WHAT YOU DO:
*cook finely chopped celery and onion in hot oil just until tender
*stir in tomatoes; heat through
*add shrimp, whipping cream, and water
*cook over medium heat just until hot
*season to taste with black pepper
*ENJOY!

This can be eaten with or without rice. I'm greedy, and therefore prefer it with the rice :)

as the sun sets

I quickly snapped these pictures on my way out the door Friday evening.
After going back to look at them, I wish I would have used my DSLR to really capture that beautiful sunset behind me.
Anyway, I wore this out to ERA ART BAR & LOUNGE for drinks, and live salsa music. Good times!
With all this warm weather, I really didn't need the tights or the leather jacket, but there's something weird to me about bare legs and short sleeves in February.

can't take my eyes off of you

Apparently, I was so obsessed with the lining of this blazer, that I could not take the time to look up at the camera :) :)

Hope everyone is having as good of a week as I am. I would write more about it, but I have a mile long list of things to do, and updating the blog obviously was most important. Enjoy the weekend!

There's still time to enter the GIVEAWAY

leopard.zebra.cheetah

My niece stopped by for a quick visit Friday evening, and when she left, she was short one item...
This multi animal print scarf :) :)
It's only on loan so I am going to wear it out until she comes back for it, and when she does, I am going to start wearing my leopard and zebra print scarf together!

I wore this out for lunch today with my dad and brother...beef & broccoli with oyster sauce and fried rice...o, and one chicken wing. YUM!

Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE. I'm finding out that a lot of people don't have Facebook, so the details have been tweaked a bit...

i want to give-a-way

As I stated in my last post, I'm doing a giveaway!!! I've been thinking about doing one for awhile now and lately there were so many signs saying there's no time like the present. For starters, I always knew what I was going to giveaway and the company who makes the item, contacted me recently with a special offer for my readers that I will get to later. I'm almost at 200 followers which is something to celebrate, and last but certainly not least, I just won something via a giveaway over at BUDGET CHIC (will show it off when it gets here), so I am true testament that giveaways are totally worth it. 65 & sunny

I feel awful bragging about the weather in California when the East Coast is being slammed by snow and sleet and single digit temps, but my goodness, it's beautiful here! The weather is actual better than when I first moved back to the Bay Area in August of last year. It's hard to be unhappy when the sun is shining :)

Next post, I am giving away one of the items in this post, so stay tuned, and please don't forget to LIKE me on FACEBOOK.

vintage coach

This is one of my favorite dresses because it's sooooo easy to wear.
It's traveled across several states with me and I've never had to iron it.
And every time I wear it I pair it with a different belt.
But this post is really not about the dress. It's about the BAG!!!
My mom's super old school Coach bag to be exact :)
It's so soft and so perfect and so goes with everything. My mom better get a lock on her closet...

wearing: urban outfitters dress, thrifted belt, dolce vita boots, coach bag
worn to: dinner and drinks at Mua

P.S I'm typing and sippin'...please excuse any typos and/or incoherence ;)
