back_side_front

I'm off to Boston on Wednesday. I hope that I am over this nasty cold I caught over the weekend by the time I board the plane. I'll be back to regularly scheduled blogging when I return ;)

blazing red

A week from now, I'll be on a plane headed to Boston!!!!! While I am clearly excited, I have no idea what to pack, other than my fav trousers shown above ;) I don't know how people pack the night before. I start thinking about it at least a week ahead. Is that as neurotic as it sounds?

lazy sundae

The weather has cooled down a lot. In fact, today is actually cloudy and rainy.

The perfect weather for sipping tea and watching movies, or in my case catching up on my dvr.

Before the weather cooled off, my wardrobe and I took advantage of the sunny days in this mini skirt and ruffle tank.

My mom took advantage of the weather with a strawberry ice cream sundae :)

monochromatically correct

I hate matching, but ironically enough I'm all over monochromatic looks this fall. This is my version, but I would love to try a color jean or pants with a matching blouse.

harem?

I can't tell if these pants are considered harem pants or just long in the crotch.

When I bought them (on sale for $5), I don't even think the harem fad was out yet, so they are probably just long in the crotch/ill fitting.
And now that I think about it, probably why they were on sale. Ha!
As much as I LOVE grey, it can be kind of bland, especially in pictures, so thank goodness for shoes that pop any outfit :)

mysterious minds part II

So ages ago, I did a Q&A post HERE, and I'm not even going to attempt to explain why it took me so long to get around to part two because there's really no reason. So without further ado, here it is, but first, a throwback picture of one of my favorite looks, which is also an answer to my first question.

What is your favorite blog look?
I love my thrifted yellow/orange/pink/red Limted dress . It's so bright and obnoxious, that it could easily be a great 70's costume, but I wore it in real life last summer for my favorite activity, dinner and drinks :) I can't believe that I haven't worn it since. Shame on me for letting great clothes collect dust.

So when you move back to Cali are you still going to blog?
Yep. So far I've kept it up, and I will do my best to continue. School is keeping me busy, but for now, I refuse to give up my creative outlet.

What is your favorite thing in your closet?
Wow. That's a tough question. I will say that recently something happened that almost caused me to loose my LV bag and I can't even describe how I felt when I thought it was gone. A huge part of it was the fact that my camera and my wallet were in the bag and I'd die without both of those, but a small part was some sort of weird emotional connection I feel towards the bag, perhaps because it was a graduation present. I'm not sure if that makes it my faviorte but it certainly makes it special.

What is your pet peeve?
People who drive slow in the fast lane and people who talk LOUD and too much.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Still blogging I hope...
I see myself climbing up the corporate ladder of a fabulous company where business or business casual attire is out of the question, while running my own successful small business on the side that will hopefully grow into something full time, all while juggling being a great wife and figuring out if I want kids, living in New York, but planning my way back to Atlanta ;)

Do you have any tattoos?
I have a tattoo of an abstract lion (I'm a Leo) on my lower right back. You can't really tell what it is without asking and that's what I love most about it.

How will the IMC masters degree contribute to your future career goals?
A huge part of going back to school is about networking for me. I know that grad school is a necessity if you want to pursue certain careers but for me wanting to continue working in retail/fashion, it's honestly not. But I am in San Fran where the opportunities are pretty abundant in my areas of interest and my main goal is to meet people who can help get me where I want to be.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Reality tv and celebrity gossip :) I'm secretly obsessed with Kim Kardashian.

breaking all the rules

Not only did I wait until after Labor Day to break out my white jeans...

I waited for the official end of summer and second day of fall!!!

Who made up that silly little rule anyway?

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine consisted of shopping, studying, studying, studying and more shopping to treat myself for all the studying :)

falling for fall

I believe today is the first day of fall. That means it's time for pants, blazers, jackets and scraves. O my!

It's also time for boots, but I must admit that I will rock a pair of peep toe heels all year long ;)

Like most lovers of fashion, fall is my favorite season because of all the fabulous clothes, but I also like fall because of the way it makes me feel. There's something about falling leaves, fireplaces, warm drinks and crisp air that makes me feel all warm inside.

Random side note, if you ever visit San Francisco, I highly recommend Hotel Abri.

stepping out

Per my previous post, I was not ready to whip out the wedges on my first day of class.
But it didn't take me long to have a change of heart :)

My favorite new school supply is this Target tote! I wear it all the time as if it matched everything, and that's so not the case, but ask me if I care ;)

And my favorite new accessory are these earrings from eShakti.

Happy Hump Day!

too cool for school

So if you remember, this is what I was envisioning wearing on my first day of classes.
And this is what I came up with. I had a more literal interpretation, BUT I switched it up last minute so I could wear my flats. I wasn't ready to step out in 5 inch wedges on the first day ;)

easy breezy

Think of your most comfortable pair of pj's. Now, multiply that by 10 and that's how comfortable this American Apparel jumper is.
I almost didn't buy it because I don't like tube tops on me, but with a chunky necklace, all of my insecurities about this silhouette went out the door :)
On a side note, have you guys heard of golden raspberries? I picked some up from the Farmers Market last week, and I am hooked! Off to eat a few now...

i've been featured!

Thanks for the well wishes with grad school. I've had two classes and so far so good :) My outfit came together nicely, but unfortunately you're going to have to wait and see what I came up with because I haven't quite worked out taking pictures of myself at my new residence. I guess I need to get a tripod...
But on a brighter AND colorful note, here is the last outfit picture from my trip to New York. As evident in THIS post, I held true to my theme of color and prints :)
During the day in NY I was always running around in flat sandals and my feet were KILLING me.
So, on the last day, I opted for these wedges and they were the answer to my feet's prayers :) I find Jessica Simpson shoes to be some of the most comfortable out there.

On an even brighter note, I am so excited that the lovely Elle of Edk.Dolce did a feature on me. Please check out our Q&A HERE

it was good while it lasted

My four month sabbatical/extended summer vacation is over.

Tomorrow I start my first day of graduate school. Wish me luck!

Typical of a kid on their first day of class, I'm thinking about what I should wear for the big day. I'm envisioning something like this in my head. Let's see if I can make it happen with what's already in my closet. Stay tuned to see what I come up with :)
