AT LAST
On my final night in Greece I wore this OLD NAVY MAXI DRESS that I scored for the low-low..$4 to be exact. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have even gotten it that cheap as a hand me down in Goodwill, so basically I got the deal of the decade week.
I think the ethnic inspired print paired nicely with my twists and extra sun kissed skin. Everyone thought I was from the Caribbean or Africa while I was there anyway, so WHY NOT play it up and not crush anyone's dream when I tell them "nope I'm from California" Ha!

**Simply Chic Travel Tip: Greece**
No need to get the international data plan or whatever it's called for your phone. If staying connected is important to you book a hotel with Wifi and most restaurants, whether they advertise it or not, have Wifi. You just have to ask for the password. To be on the safe side, put your phone in airplane mode as soon as you land so you won't get hit with any random charges, and you're all set.

MY BEACH IS BETTER
I buy bikinis almost as much as I buy shoes, and this J. Crew/Target bikini combo is bar none my favorite right now. I wore this retro inspired suit earlier this summer to a pool party, and then again to Perissa, one of the many gorgeous black sand beaches in Santorini.
I always thought it was so cool to be laying on the beach in California and look out and see the mountains in the distance, and it still is very cool. However, I was completely amazed to see a beach with mountains just steps away. In my book, it's the 8th wonder of the world.

On the the other side of that beautiful mountain, there is another, larger more lively beach called Kamari. There is a complimentary shuttle boat that takes you from one side to the other, so you don't have to swim ;) Perissa beach is also an extension of Perivolos beach. Go here if you like water activities.

WHY NOT
As I mentioned in my LAST POST "why not" is a common phrase in Greece. When I first got to my hotel in Mykonos, I asked the bellman if he was having a good day, and he shrugged his shoulders and said "Why not?! The weather is great!" and I cracked up because that is such a funny, unorthodox response to that particular question. Little did I know, the Greek answer "why not" to everything, and that is how I feel about this outfit. Yes I'm mixing 4 prints, and 4+ colors, but why not? Pattern play is a good thing, right?

Leave your heels at home and make sure you are in the best shape of your life before you go. Santorini has to be the hilliest place on earth. Sure you could catch a cab, or the city bus everywhere, but you'll miss out on all the beauty you see when you explore by foot. O, and there are hundreds and hundreds of steep stairs all over this island. So again, leave your heels at home. You can be chic in flats ;)

ALL WHITE EVERYTHING
Hi. My name is Simply Chic, I wear white after Labor Day, and I think you should too.
Whether you are in Mykonos or Santorini, where you blend right in with all the white buildings, or you are back in the states in a colorful botanical garden, white is a good idea year ‘round. As they say in Greece, “why not”.

When travelling between islands I highly recommend taking the ferry vs a plane. It’s the most chaotic organized process (picture 100’s of people and some cars entering a massive boat with no line yet somehow the boarding process is quicker than a Delta shuttle flight) BUT you get to see various islands as you travel to your destination.

greek safari
This day in Mykonos was probably my favorite. Not only is Little Venice picture perfect with its colorful buildings and crashing waves, but I also got to eat dinner while watching the most amazing sunset. It was so stunning, that when the sun finally disappeared from eyesight, everyone started to applaud. It was a very special moment.
The windmills were also very cool, but I was not at all dressed appropriately for all the rocks and uneven terrain. Nonetheless, it was also a highlight of this day.

While in Little Venice be sure to stop by SEMELI BAR and have the Summer Passion (vodka with exotic fresh fruits). You won’t be disappointed.
Also, wear comfy shoes (I didn't) that you don’t mind getting a little dusty if you plan to REALLY explore and get close to the windmills.

I'm baaaaaaack, and still on cloud 9. Mykonos, and especially Santorini, are even more beautiful in person than they are in pictures, and as unbelievable as that sounds, I am not exaggerating. My posts for the next couple of weeks will show you what I wore (of course) and take you through some of my journey.
After 3 flights, 15 hours in the air, nearly 20 hours of total travel time and a 10 hour time difference, all I wanted to do when I finally made it to Mykonos was...HIT THE BEACH. Yes, I was in desperate need of a full night's sleep nap but who naps in a bed when you can nap on the beach overlooking the Aegean Sea?

People think of Mykonos as a party island, but it's a great place to unwind if you stay near the beach instead of in Mykonos Town AND if you choose the right hotel. If you are looking for luxury accommodations THE MYCONIAN AMBASSADOR is your place! There is a very zen quality about this property, not to mention there is a beautiful spa on site (with complementary services depending on your package) a fabulous pool and a staff that will bend over backwards to make sure all your needs are met. Staying here has a lot to do with why this island was so great!
