turning two

Two years ago today I started SimplyChic! I remember it was a Friday night and I was looking at other blogs and the name SimplyChic hit me like a ton of bricks, and I KNEW I had to create my own blog. Here we are two years later and I truly, truly appreciate each and every public and private follower, commenter, sponsor and supporter of SimplyChic.
I went back and read my 1 year post which you can see HERE (yes I am purposely wearing the same top in this post) and one thing I said was "I look forward to April 27, 2011...hopefully bringing you pictures with a DSLR camera. I'm currently taking donations ;)" .Well thanks to the b/f I am now the proud owner of a Canon EOS Rebel XS, and while I see a vast improvement in the quality of my photos, next up is a photography class and even better photos come April 27th, 2012 :)

easter

Happy Easter! Don't I look like a good little Catholic school girl who likes to wear 4 inch heels to church ;)
I had planned on wearing a cream poofy dress with big aqua polka dots all over it (a.k.a my stepford wife dress) to mass this morning, but it was raining when I woke up so I had to go with plan B.
This skirt and belt are both from Goodwill. Probably cost me less than $5 for both. I haven't been thrifting since I moved to Cali, but after putting this ensemble together and now that Lent is over, I'm ready to go thrifting!
Everyone enjoy your Sunday whether you celebrate Easter or not :) I'm about to go stuff my face with smoked turkey, and green bean casserole, and crawfish ettouffee, and whatever else I can get my hands on.

an affair to remember

Finally, I can share a few pictures from the wedding I was in last month. I was waiting for the photographer, Jen Huang, to post her pictures on her blog before I could share with you guys. You must check them out HERE! They are gorgeous. Savannah is such a beautiful backdrop for a wedding and it doesn't hurt when you have a stunning couple :)
The wedding was held at the cutest little Catholic church on Tybee Island, and the reception was at the MANSION ON FORSYTH PARK. The bride's dress is Monique Lhuillier, and don't know about the groom's ensemble, but his jacket was appropriately lined in purple as he is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

Overall, the evening was as beautiful and as perfect as these pictures and this couple :) Please don't forget to visit JEN HUANG'S blog to see more photos. You're in for a treat :)

i am not my mother

I am not my mother, but in this post I am wearing her earrings, ring and bag.
Thanks mom :)
Since I gave up shopping for Lent (praise Jesus that it's almost over) I've been raiding her closet to get my fix.
While this shirt is mine from Urban Outfitters, the colors make me think of the 70's and I could definitely see this in her closet back in the day.
Of all the things I discovered, this ruby ring is my favorite.

to the max

If you stopped by my blog recently or follow me on TWITTER you know that Photobucket was having some issues and all the images from my blog disappeared for a few days. So annoying, but more scary than anything.

It's painful to think all your hard work could be gone just like that. But on a brighter note I won a great giveaway...a $100 gift certificate to CHICSHOP thanks to one of my favorite bloggers ZARNA. Can't wait to use it!

This maxi dress is obviously perfect for summer and the beach, but I feel like pairing it with a button down makes it slightly more sophisticated.

spotted and dotted

I went the whole day today thinking it was Wednesday. Literally the WHOLE DAY...it was 20 mins to midnight before I realized it was Thursday (and I needed to do a new post).

Anyway, I wore this to the Alvin Ailey dance performance last Saturday. The show is beautiful! Have you been?

The woman next to me kept talking to me about all these famous dancers, and finally I had to tell her "I don't know anything about dance, outside of what you do in the club."

She told me she assumed I was a dancer because of my bun. So funny! I would have thought it would have been because of the skirt, which kinda makes me feel like a teeny booper btw. I may need to retire it...

savannah in pictures

I lived in Georgia for almost 10 years, and it took my friend's wedding for me to take a trip down to Savannah.
I have to tell you, it's an incredibly charming city.
Wait until you see my friend's gorgeous wedding pictures, (waiting on permission from the photog) but for now you have to look at me in my road trip attire. I was literally hopping in a car from here to take the 4 hour drive back to Atlanta.
But I had to stop and get some pictures of the painter in the park.
And the beautiful flowers in full bloom, complementing my cardigan nicely.
Although I have no clue what purpose it serves, I love this random antiques sign. It seems so appropriate for the area.
And last but not last, of course the b/f and I had to stop off for some brunch before we hit the road. We ate at a cute bookstore/art gallery/cafe called SOHO SOUTH CAFE and even the chairs were charming.
