I love nothing more than to come home on Friday night after a long week of work and sit on my couch with a bottle glass of wine or a cup of tea and indulge in all of the TV goodness I don't have time to watch during the week. 

But every blue moon, when there's a party that's worth the effort, I'll partake. On this particularly night, I threw on my work pumps (I'm having knee issues, so limited in my shoe options) and my Versace "fauxsace" dress and headed to the W for a party. And yes it was worth the effort!

OFFICE CHIC: HOUNDSTOOTH

I've had this skirt for years (as in 5+) and I have no clue why I bought it since until 7 months ago I've never needed to dress up for anything, other than the occasional interview. Nonetheless, I'm glad I bought it and held on to it because it fits nicely into my business casual wardrobe. I think next up, I need a HOUNDSTOOTH PENCIL DRESS.

JOGGERS ONLY

Outside of the house, you won't catch me in sweats. But joggers? I'm all about them! I love that you still have a shape when you wear them. You can wear them with flats, heels, sneakers etc.They come in fun patterns and colors. And what I love most about these is the faux leather waist! I got them during the Zara sale and now I'm wishing I'd gotten them in every color. How does that saying go? Nothing haunts us like the things we didn't buy. Oh well...

It seems like just yesterday it was cold enough to wear chunky knits and leather. O wait, that's because it was. Ha! THE PERFECT PATCH

What do you guys think about elbow patches? According to my mom they are "played" — her words, not mine. I happen to think they are timeless and thank goodness she raised an independent thinker with high self esteem who will continue to rock elbow patches despite said playedness ;) Happy Monday! OLIVIA POPED

If you watch Scandal, you already know Olivia Pope's signature color is white and she loves a good outerwear piece! So as an ode to the season starting back up last week, I wore some white denim and a cape from The Limited's Scandal Collection. I guess you can say, I Olivia Poped myself ;) 

I actually don't think I've ever seen her denim, but I had to put my simply chic twist on it. Check out OLIVIA POPE'S BEST LOOKS EVER according to US Magazine.

OVERSIZED

There are so many great things about living in the Bay Area and impromptu trips to wine country ranks high on my list of  reasons to love it here. I always find myself in Napa, but on the first weekend of the new year, I did something different and headed to Sonoma instead. I'll do a separate post later about my experience there, but for now let's talk about this Zara coat...

I was unsure about this coat. Don't get me wrong — I love it, but I wasn't sure that I loved it for me. I'm short and small a.k.a petite and I wasn't sure the oversized silhouette was good for my frame. But you know what? I said, it's a new year, let me try something different + this thing is extremely warm and it was rather chilly this day, so I went for it! What do you think of the coat?

Do you have a favorite color? I don't think I do or at least not one that I am really loyal to. If I had to pick a color it certainly wouldn't be blue, however I am loving all the shades and prints of blue in this outfit. Happy Monday!
