SIMPLEMENT CHIC

Excuse my impromptu blogger break. I was working on this post last Tuesday night and thought to myself "Man, my tooth hurts. I have to put the computer down and sleep this off". Turns out not only did I need to put the computer down, but I also need to get my wisdom teeth out, and no I did not get any sleep that night. I'm terrified. Say a prayer. Wish me luck. Tell me it's going to be ok. And bare with me if I go MIA, again.

I think this outfit embodies the essence of being simply chic. It's a very understated look (jeans and a tee) made a little bit more interesting with accessories (hat, bag, heels etc). It just goes to show that you don't have to put in a lot of time, effort or money to be chic. I threw this on to go to my nephew's basketball birthday party, and while I was on the way there I found out about a day party for "big kids". Luckily I had some heels in the car and voolia...Simplement Chic.

TRIBAL SPARKLE

This cardigan is my favorite purchase from this winter season, and I got it from a place I rarely shop for clothes...TJ Maxx. I spotted the tribal-inspired print on my way to the home section, and when I tried it on I had to have it because of the slightly oversized fit. I've worn it many, many ways but dressed up with some sequins and a statement necklace from J Crew is my favorite.

OFFICE CHIC: WHAT DO YOU WEAR?

Do you dress up for work? I was talking to a friend the other day and we decided that unless you are a lawyer, banker or salesperson, no one dresses up for work anymore. Do you think that's true? I'm curious to see what industries wear what. Leave me a comment with your industry and the dress code. 

I'll start. I work in corporate retail/eCommerce and no one dresses up for work. I get a little more dolled up when I have something social going on after work (which I did the day I wore this), but for the most part I'm pretty casual. I don't wear my HOT PINK CONVERSE or t shirts, but I do a lot of blazers, dark denim and flats. I guess we can call that smart casual?
