to dye for

target sheer asymmetrical tee, f21 leaf necklace, american apparel skirt, thrifted clutch, report signature shoes

I bought this AA skirt back in July and I wore it for the first time to hookah and drinks last Saturday night. Hookah/drinks was fun as always, and a late night Chinese food run was the perfect way to end the night!

I have to say congrats to my dear friend Nkechi who JUST GOT ENGAGED!!!

50

urban outfitters knit dress, thrifted belt, MIA (???) sandals

I started this blog on a random Saturday night. I was taking a break from doing work, blog surfing, and thought to myself "I could do this". 50 posts later, here I am! And now that I've finally reached 50 posts, I am loosing my photog to business school, and debating on whether or not to continue. Anyone out there using tripods to photograph themselves, or have any other suggestions on how to keep the blog up????

In addition to the fact that I am loosing my photog, I am also feeling totally uninspired lately. TOTALLY! I don't even have the desire to shop. I know that won't last long...

At any rate, this is what I wore a week ago to have brunch with my mom at the Westin Hotel. I've had this dress for about 4 years and I normally reserve it for Fall/Winter since it's knit, but it was one of the few things in my closet that didn't need to be ironed, and I didn't feel like ironing ;)

styled out

american eagle plaid shirt, thrifted denim shirt, ??? white pants, 9west loafers

I am burnt out from my week of style out. For those of you who don't work in retail/merchandising, style out is the process buyers go through to determine what styles will be sold in stores, or in my case, sold in the catalog/ on the Web. You sit in a room full of merchandise for days, and analyze 5 million reports, and FIGHT for your product to be selected. It may not sound like it, but it is a grueling process, that can get very intense and ugly, but it's one of my fav parts of the job.

Style out is also the time, when a generally stylish group of buyers, are more focused on getting their product picked than what they wear to work ;) And let me tell you, this is as good as it got for me this week. Lol. Normally, this wouldn't have made the blog, but I figured why not? I think we all have those super casual days, where we just don't care!

Happy Friday! I am about to make myself a stiff drink.

shopping for shoes

ann taylor loft blazer, anthropologie dress, jessica simpson shoes, do you lilac opi polish

Last Friday I went shopping for shoes. Not in the mall, and not for my personal edification, but for work at the Atlanta Shoe Show. I wore this silk dress and it is pretty dressy (wore it to a wedding a year ago) but I felt like the brown blazer dressed it down, while making it professional at the same time.

I don't buy fun shoes, so I don't really have much to report on what will be hot for Spring '10, but nudes and muted colors seem to continue to be big, and I saw studs and buckles everywhere. From what I saw in passing, I'm excited about the Frye and Vince Camuto Spring lines.

a great day

old navy white pocket tee, thrifted belt and skirt, steve madden luxe shoes

Yesterday I found out that I was accepted to the first grad school I applied to :) :) :) :) Best news I've had in a while! Now, I just have to find the motivation to apply to the other schools on my list, because it's good to have options, or at least that's what I keep telling myself. We'll see what happens!

On to fashion...I think this skirt is my first thrift shop purchase. It was down to my ankle, but the print made me smile so I went for it, and I'm glad I did. It opened the door to a healthy little addiction that is thrift shopping.

Notice my hand in only one pocket on the last picture. That is because the skirt only came with one pocket, or perhaps it's actually just a hole. Either way, for $5, I won't complain.

repeat offender

alternative apparel wrap cardi, target dress, thrifted belt, 9west bootie

I wore this dress back in May to a club in Miami, and I wore it today to work. Nothing like clothes that can go from the club to the office ;)

Also, I know I said bye bye to the bootie BUT this dress is too short to wear with my replacement 4.5" heels.

Toddles 'til later in the week, in something you haven't seen (maybe).

cream of the crop

old navy deep v tee, thrifted INC skirt, steve madden luxe shoes

I really like this little cream skirt and the b/f (also known as my photog) does too! Normally he just takes the pics and doesn’t comment on the clothes much, but he told me that he really likes the skirt. It must be the leather piping detail that you can barely see from the picture. He also said “And I like those shoes more now too” Ummm, he’s never even seen these shoes before, but it was a nice try ;) Too cute!

Speaking of the shoes, obviously I kept them. The
Steve Madden Luxe line seems to be more comfortable than the regular line.

P.S-Excuse my bare neck. I forgot my necklace. Dang!

color blocking

thrifted limited dress and belt, bcbgirls shoes, lv bag

I found this color block Limited dress while thrifting. Although I don’t know for sure that it is a product of the 70’s, I would be willing to bet that it is. As soon as I saw it, Austin Powers came to mind. With an afro wig, and some white patent boots, it would make the perfect costume. But since I wore it to dinner and drinks, you will see I opted for a slightly more demure look.
